People Photography

Do you want to be a photographer who takes pictures of models, like in all those clothes magazines? Seems like fun right?! Well, I'm sure it is! Unfortunately, most of us don't have those $7,000 cameras that they use, or the perfect looking models they use either. So what? Call up your friends and set up a time and place to do your photo shoot! Remember, it doesn't have to be on a super sunny day, it's actually best to have an outside shoot when it's cloudy or overcast. And if it is windy, even better! Everybody loves it when the model's hair is blown back, and wind is like a natural fan! Always think of the positives when something you think is bad happens. If it rains, bring some cute rain boots and umbrellas, find puddles to splash around in, and there you go - a perfect black and white scene in the making! Also, you need to make it look like everyone is having fun, but don't make it look fake! Don't place people in a certain place, having everyone look into the camera lens. Most of my pictures of people are when they are not looking, that way they don't have a fake smile; if they are laughing, it's a perfect Kodak moment!

Your friends are your perfect models.

What's your strong point in photography?

There are many types of photography. Many people have a strength in one type, whether it be nature, people, or black and white. Some photographers only do one single type of photography. I think it is best to widen your variety, and do all of the types. That way, you can figure out for sure what your best type of photography is. Also, it makes you a better photographer. If you do choose to sell your work, and you had many different types of photos on display, buyers can go to you, knowing that you will have whatever they need - a picture of people, nature, "old fashioned" photography, industrial, etc.

Since there are so many, I would look at all of the different photography there is online or at a store, instead of taking them! It saves time, and if you see a photo you really like, then try to do that type next time you go for a photo session!

It's best to know what your strength in photography is, but also, mix it up a little bit, and have fun taking all types of pictures!

It is what it is.

Photography is not like painting or drawing. It's taking the outside world, and using what resources you have. You can change your setting and focus of the picture, but you can't create a fake world with it. You have to use what you have. We photographers must create art with whatever we find and what life throws at us. And sometimes, if you wait long enough, and look hard enough, you can easily make something that everyone will be in love with.
For example, I took this for photography club. Our instructor told us to take a picture of anything outside. Everyone, except me, left to go into the woods. I stayed behind, and saw this. It's not a very beautiful object, but if you take it at the right position, at the right time, you can make something boring into something amazing.
I think that's what photography is all about.
